OWWA REBATE ✔ 6 Steps On How To Claim Your OWWA Rebate

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration will open the OWWA Rebate Portal on September 1, 2019 as part of the launching of the OWWA Rebate Program. The OWWA Rebate Program is in compliance with the provision of the OWWA Act which is to implement the grant of rebate to long-time members of OWWA.

The OWWA Rebate Portal will aid the distribution of the OWWA Rebate Program and functions as a database for qualified OFW-members. This online system, developed by OWWA, is where member-OFWs can easily verify if they are eligible to the rebate program. It also serves as an appointment system where the qualified beneficiaries can set an appointment to the nearest OWWA office.

Qualified to the rebate program are:

  • OFWs who have been members of OWWA for at least ten years with at least five or more contributions made as of December 31, 2017 and
  • OFW-member or his/her family has not availed of any program or benefit from OWWA.

Qualified beneficiaries will present the appointment code, that will be sent via SMS after setting an appointment, to their chosen OWWA Regional Welfare Offices including other documentary requirements for verification. After the verification process, the beneficiaries will provide his/her bank details where OWWA will deposit the amount of his/her rebate.

The amount of the rebate can also be donated by the beneficiaries to the Tuloy-Aral Project (TAP) of OWWA to help send kids of less fortunate OFWs to school. It can also be used as payment for the renewal of OWWA membership for OFWs who still have active employment contract abroad.

Qualified OFWs may be able to claim Php 941.25 up to Php 13,177.50 based on the number of their contributions. The computation for the Rebate Program is based on an actuarial study commissioned by OWWA which determined the capability of the OWWA Fund to implement the rebate program without negatively affecting the regular programs and services of the agency. Based on the actuarial study, Php 1 billion pesos was earmarked for the rebate program to be distributed to the 556,000 beneficiaries of the rebate per OWWA database.

OFW-members will be able to access the OWWA Rebate Portal via the OWWA website owwa.gov.ph. For further questions about the OWWA Rebate Program, visit the nearest OWWA Regional Welfare Office in your area or call OWWA Hotline 1348. (END)

Nurturing Family Relationship

Objectives:
1. Discuss issues brought out by long term separation.
2. To learn strategies in addressing family issues.
3. To promote equality between men and women to be able to share responsibility of family decision making on money and migration matter.

Nurturing ~

“It is like a lovely beautiful tiny plant which you wanted to grow in your backyard. Everyday you have to see to it that there is enough water to drink or if there is none you have to water again. Weeding it when grasses grew around and see to it that the sunlight may not hit directly so as to dry quickly or put in shade when heavy rain comes”. Just like a lovely family when it’s nurtured with love and above all is God.
Nurturing is to take care of , feed and protect someone or something, especially young children or plants, and help him, her, or it to develop.
# e.g She want to stay home and nurture her children. or a carefully nurtured garden.

Migration

Migration is one of the reason why a father or a mother, a single parent or single individuals have to leave their homes to work abroad where there is greener pasture as they said because of the increase of salary and or they were able to earn big income for their families. It said that migration also to others is to be able to see beautiful places and learn other culture. This is one of the biggest market in the Philippines , it’s remittances.

Issues brought out by long term separation

■ Family Dependency on Remittances – It is difficult to handle problems brought out by long term separtion because migrants were not able to monitor where about their families and how are they spending the remittances, if it is for their own good or for their worst.

■ Family Break-up/ gap/ alienation – another problem is that some migrants were not able to embrace their children or unite with them in times of their ups and downs situation. when they are in trouble migrants were not able to give advices and stay beside them. Even the father or the mother who are with the children becomes the problem itself, and all were gone astray. There is also a lot of basis that some migrants whether male or female become the problem because of having affairs or relationship with foreigners.

■ Extra Marital Relations – where in migrants were not able to see the routes of their children whether in school or in clubhouses and some on parties. Some indulge into drugs and become addicted, some get pregnant at an early age because of misguidance. They are being misguided rather than mischievous.

Learn Strategies in Addressing Issues

(HOW DO MIGRANTS NURTURE THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH FAMILY?)

In today’s modern world , we live in digital era where in communication is easily attained by each individuals by the use of mobile phone or smart etc.
~ COMMUNICATION is a must to migrant vs the family in the Philippines via video call or skype.
~INVOLVE CHILDREN IN FAMILY PLANNING even in video call or skype we have to involve them in order for them to understand whatever plans both migrant and husband or wife are planning for.

~ REMITTANCE MUST BE GUIDED ACCORDING TO IT’S PROPER USE AND LIMIT THEIR WANTS OVER THEIR NEEDS. Must the migrant and the family agree where to use the money in order to address their needs not wants.

~ BOTH MIGRANT AND FAMILY AGREE TO SAVING AND INVESTING IN ORDER FOR EARLIER REINTEGRATION.

~ CHILDREN MAY LEARN TO BE INDEPENDENT IN HOUSE HOLD CHORES. They maybe able to learn how to cook, wash dishes, wash clothes and clean the house. Dr Jose Rizal Said,” TRAIN THE CHILD IN A WAY THEY SHOULD GO AND WHEN THEY GROW THEY WILL NOT DEPART FROM IT”.

To Promote Equality Between Men and Women to be able to share Responsibility of Family Decision Making on Money and Migration Matter

It says that,” it’s not because you are earning big income that you become the big boss in your family regardless of gender specific”. Both of you whether you are a woman or a man migrant worker must equal to it’s responsibility in your family circle. Whoever has the good idea and it can be done for the good of the family then both agree without reservation.

~ Love is the greatest antidote to whatever misunderstanding or misguiding comes to your family.

“Work together as one though migrant workers away , work with faith and love. Put God first and everything will follow. “

Saving/Budgeting/Investment

There are essentially two strategies for savings and investments: Increase your income and cut your spending.

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Should start setting up their goal for migration and make it effectively right away.

These tips can help you build savings, reduce debt, boost income and invest wisely.

1. Pay yourself first

Save part of your monthly income as soon as you get it, rather setting aside whatever’s left over.

“Take a percentage of your salary and save it automatically or invest. DON’T THINK ABOUT IT. DON’T GO BACK TO IT. JUST HAVE IT DONE. Ronit Rogoszinski

2. Save for emergencies

An emergency savings account is the foundation of a sound financial plan. But what exactly is an emergency?

A true emergency is something you have no control over and little choice about, such as a major illness or job loss.

If you have a habit of dipping into your savings when you shouldn’t, move those funds to separate savings accounts so the funds won’t be depleted when you need them.

3. Spend less, save more

Saving often starts with spending less. Whether it’s a pricey hair salon, daily premium coffee or brand-new clothing at retail prices, most people can find things to trim from their budgets.

When you cut back on spending, don’t leave the savings in your pocket, wallet or checking account, where you’ll just spend the money on something else. Instead, make a payment that day on a debt or transfer the money to a savings account where it will be out of reach.

“Try to reduce one spending habit that is discretionary and bank the savings or put it toward paying down a debt,”Ronit Rogoszinski

Paying off debt can be a great way to free up money that you can redirect to savings or investing. Make a list of your debts and pay off those with the highest interest rates or smallest balances first.

4. Allocate your assets

Some investments are relatively tame on the risk-reward scale while others are more volatile.

Generally speaking, younger people should invest more aggressively while older people should be more conservative.

If you’re a novice investor, start with a basket of investments, perhaps in a mutual fund or assets you choose yourself. The goal should be to diversify without making your portfolio too complicated or too narrow.

Whether you’re a novice or experienced investor, be cautious about investments with a high-flying risk-reward profile.

“There’s a direct correlation between return and risk, so if you are being promised pie in the sky, you can be sure there is a lot of risk,” Boucher says.

5. Understand investment costs

Whether you’re talking about stocks and bonds, mutual funds, broker commissions or retirement plan management fees, virtually all investments involve costs that investors should understand.

“The goal should be for it to be an ongoing process, not to be stopped or restarted because of the news of the day,” Rogoszinski says.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help

When it comes to investing, some might not be sure where to start. How should you know what stocks to pick? How do you know if your portfolio is balanced? Don’t be afraid to seek guidance from a licensed professional. OFWs can always consult Pinoywise mentors and organizers.

Do You Talk To Yourself?

When you talk to yourself , you are simply thinking out loud, revealing what is in your heart.

It could be said that we are what we think. If our thoughts are evil, we will be evil. If our thoughts are pure, our life will be pure.

When people talk to themselves, what do they talk about?

It can be either good or bad, for our words reveal what is in our heart.

For my experienced since my younger years , usually I talked to myself even tòday along the way , at work or while on cars. Somtimes I smile at myself and ask what am I talking about ?

People may rather have reasons why⤵

First● they might want to hear a smart man talk.

Second● they might want to talk to a smart man.

LET’S TALK TO OURSELVES ABOUT THINGS THAT ARE TRUE, NOBLE, JUST, PURE, LOVELY, OF GOOD REPORT, BIRTUOUS AND WORTHY OF PRAISE.( mrd)
